Aloha everyone!
If you need a really cheap smartphone and you don’t want to spend a lot of money, T-Mobile has you covered. As a part of T-Mobile’s 5G commitment, they will give you a Samsung Galaxy A32 5G for free, via bill credits – more on this shortly.
All you have to do is trade-in any working, undamaged phone. Yup, that flip phone from 7 years ago that still powers on, is still eligible for a trade-in. Best part? You don’t have to open a new line to get this deal. Existing users can get this deal as well!
What’s the catch? Well you get the phone for free via bill credits. What does that mean? We have to do some math here. If you have an old phone laying around, T-Mobile will give you cash value for your trade-in and the rest [$282 (value of A32 5G) – $2 (for this example, value of your trade-in)]. If your trade-in is worth $2, you will get the rest via bill credits $280 divided by $24 = $11.67.
You will still have to pay for the sales tax of your Galaxy A32 5G up front and this will vary depending on which state you are in.
What are the terms and conditions? Well here is some fine print: “If you cancel your line before receiving 24 bill credits, you may owe up to the full value of your device ($282); if canceling your account, you can contact us first to instead make discounted monthly balance payments. Tax on pre-credit price due at sale. Limited-time offer; subject to change. Qualifying credit, service, & functioning trade-in without screen or water damage required. Customer must own trade in device and must be unlocked, not lost/stolen. $10 SIM card and, in stores & on customer service calls, $20 assisted or upgrade support charge may be required. $282 via trade-in credit and bill credits; must be active and in good standing to receive credits; allow 2 bill cycles. Max 4/account. May not be combinable with some offers or discounts.”
In short, if you leave T-Mobile anytime before the 24 months of bill credits, they will stop and you will still owe the balance of your phone. While its technically not a contract, because you can leave at anytime, deals like this will definitely make sure that you won’t be leaving T-Mobile anytime soon.
