Aloha everyone,
If you were wondering if you can upgrade the RAM and SSD of your Samsung Galaxy Book Pro 360 – you’ve come to the right place. This article will also apply to the regular Galaxy Book Pro.
Long story short, you can’t upgrade the RAM in any of the models of the Samsung Galaxy Book Pro lineup. Nope, you can’t upgrade the RAM in the 13″ and 15″ versions of the Galaxy Book Pro nor the Galaxy Book Pro 360. My suggestion would be to buy the highest RAM configuration that your region sells (here in the U.S., that’s 16GB RAM). It definitely cost a bit more, but for long haul, 16GB of RAM is more future-proof.
While the RAM isn’t upgradeable, the SSD is a different story – looks like you can upgrade the SSD yourself. The 13″ models have 1 SSD slot – if you upgrade, you will have to reinstall the Windows OS – which isn’t too hard at all – just make sure you’re prepared. You’ll need a thumbdrive. I recommend this one because it has both USB-C and USB, and you don’t need a large capacity drive – so this one is $11 (as of article post).
The 15″ model of the Galaxy Book Pro and Book Pro 360 has a 2nd SSD slot! Awesome!
There aren’t official documentation showing the maximum capacity of each SSD slots, but I’d stick to one with a slim form factor – yes the larger capacities tend to be thicker than the smaller capacity drives.
Taking the laptop apart wasn’t too hard at all, but if you’re new to opening laptops – check out our video – and it includes the tools we used to open the laptop and upgrade the RAM.
What do you think? Is not being upgrade the RAM, a dealbreaker?
