Aloha everyone,
Today, writing a quick article on where is LumaFusion. Back when the Samsung Galaxy Tab S8 Ultra was announced, I was overjoyed when I saw that LumaFusion is coming to Android – specifically to the latest flagship from Samsung. I currently use an M1 12.9 iPad Pro 2TB model and LumaFusion for all of my video editing on my YouTube channel. As someone who is slowly moving away from iOS (currently own the iPad Pro and a M1 Mac Mini), I was really excited, maybe I can start editing on my Sammy gadgets!!
Note: Article written on Samsung Galaxy Tab S8 Ultra.
After setting up the Tab S8 Ultra (don’t forget to check out my DEX Setup), I noticed that LumaFusion wasn’t avaialble after searching both the Google Play Store and Samsung Galaxy Store. Also, can you update the search results?! I have a 14.6″ tablet and with the Galaxy Store, I can barely see THREE results. There should be a column of all the apps that are similar to LumaFusion – maybe I’m a little salty that LumaFusion isn’t there.
After seeing the results from both of the App Stores, I decided to watch the entire Samsung unpacked to see what I had missed. Luckily the S22 Ultra takes very high definition screenshots and thanks to nearby share, I can quickly move the files over to my Tab S8 Ultra and upload it here on to this article.
What didn’t we see? THE FINE PRINT.
“LumaFusion for Android will be available at the Galaxy Store in 2022 with Android 11 or higher. App purchase required. Service availability and supporting languages may very by country. Actual UI may be different. Requires set up of OneDrive syncing on your Galaxy device. Dual front camera is only available for Galaxy Tab S8 Ultra.
Takeaway: we don’t even need a Samsung Galaxy Tab S8 Ultra to edit videos on LumaFusion, an older Tab S7 would work as well. Also, Samsung smartphones will be able to take advantage of this as well! Also, 2022 – I’m guessing it will be towards the end of the year.
LumaTouch (the makers of LumaFusion) – their official statement. The two main quotes that stood out to me are:
“At the Android Developer Summit, we announced LumaFusion on Android was in development. Since then we’ve been deep into the development process and are targeting a 2022 release.”
“Currently, LumaFusion on Android is in early beta. We’ve selected participants for this beta and will add more editors as needed in the future.”
Early beta. Yup, sounds like the end of the year if we’re lucky. If you’re buying the Samsung Galaxy Tab S8 Ultra specifically for LumaFusion – don’t do it.
